2017 Season Information

1) Spring Tryout Camp - Completed
Dates: June 5, 6 and 7, 2017

Location: Bob Stephen Field South Nepean Park

Time: 6:30-8:30 PM

Registration Night: please arrive at 6:00pm to sign-in to verify player registration and payment and pick up camp T-Shirts and Name Tags.

The 3-day Spring minicamp will be used to assess the player’s athletic ability (speed, agility, footwork, etc.). The coaching staff will run stations to evaluate the players. They will be based on the football FUNdamentals, (passing/catching, running/footwork, tackle). This tryout will be shorts and shirts only and athletic shoes– preferably cleats due to running on grass, no pads required.

Following the camp, the coaching staff will select and invite a roster of players to main Tackle camp. Main Camp Registration will open June 11.

2) Main Safe Tackle / Try-out Camp - Runs July 4th, 5th and 6th - - COMPLETED

Registration IS NOW OPEN!

Dates:  July 4th, 5th and 6th , 2017

Location: Bob Stephen Field -  South Nepean Park

Time: 6:30-8:45 PM (note change in end time)

Any players not successful in the Safe Tackle Camp will be contacted and released by July 7th with options provided for other clubs accepting registrations. For those not successful full refund of registration fees will be provided.

The set team will begin their regular Practices begin July 25th and run Tues/Wed/Thurs 630-830 (back to regular times) with the 3 day a week schedule up to September when we return to 2 day a week practices on Tues & Thurs for the rest of the season.

Players have been contacted to perform an equipment pick up at the club house.

Players will be fitted for Helmets, Shoulder Pads and Pants, and they will also be provided Pads (knees, hips, thighs and tailbone) and a mouth guard, all provided by the Club.  Equipment is to be returned to the Club upon end of season, or if the player is not selected for the final team roster.

Players will be required to provide their own football footwear – Cleats and a practice jersey.  We recommend parents wait to purchase a new (White/Black) jersey until players are sorted into their positions, until such time Players may wear any sport jersey over equipment.  Once sorted into their positions each player will require either a black practice for defence or a white practice jersey for offence.

Players must also purchase a girdle.  Parents have the choice of a simple girdle to hold hip, thigh and tail padding we provide, or an integrated girdle with the padding already integrated (this is the recommend option as the padding stays in place and is more comfortable for the players).

All girdles and practise jersey's can be purchased at Barrhaven Source for Sports (beside Sobeys on Greenbank north of Strandherd). Remember to ask for your Eagles discount at checkout.

At Tackle Camp the players will be put through a series of football drills and exercises to assess their ability and potential for positions placement.

Following the Tackle try-out the coaching staff will select the final roster of 36 players for the team to enter into the regular practice and games season.  Players who are not chosen for the final Roster will receive a 100% refund of main camp fees.

3) Main Season – Final Roster of Players

Dates: July 25th – Nov, 2017 – Tues, Wed & Thurs (reduced to twice weekly in September)

Location: Bob Stephen Field - South Nepean Park

Time: 6:25-8:30 PM

The final roster of players will practice 3 times per week until the start of the School season, where practices will reduce to twice weekly. The main camp will focus players on their positions and the roles within either the defensive or offensive scheme. Players will only be allowed to play on one side of the ball in a platoon system at a time.

Games run through to the first week/weekend of November.  Home games will require Parent Volunteers to run the Canteen, sell 50/50 tickets, run the music, manage the sticks, act as convenor, and help with setup/tear down.  Volunteers will be needed as well to act as convenor at Away games.  Team Manager will request Parent volunteers at the end of Tackle Camp.

4) End of Season Banquet - Friday, November 17th 6:00pm WE ARE HERE!

The 2017 season will end with a Season Celebration and Awards Banquet Friday November 17th 6pm at the Cedar Hill Golf and Country Club.

Each player will be provided a ticket to the Banquet free of charge.  There will be a charge for parents/family/friend tickets, your Team Manager will advise when tickets will be sold and will collect the money from parents.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  Tickets will not be available after Nov 8.

Practice Schedule & Location

6:25pm to 8:30pm

Bob Stephen Field

Players are expected to be at the field and dressed in full equipment ready for warm up 15 minutes before practices start.  Warm-up will commence at 6:25pm on the dot!

  • Alcohol is not permitted in the parc
  • Smoking is not permitted on or near the field
  • Dogs are not permitted at the park
  • Parents please do not go out onto the field during a practice, please instead see your Team Manager if you have questions/concerns
  • If for any reason your player will be absent during a practice, please ensure to notify both your Team Manager and Head Coach in advance at and
  • Player Guardians:  Each player MUST have a guardian at the field during every practice and every game.  A player will not be allowed on the field to practice without a guardian present on the sidelines.  As Football is a Collision sport there can be injuries at anytime requiring medical attention, in addition weather can change quickly.  In the event of severe weather or lightening we may have to suddenly end a practice.  For these reasons it is mandatory that every player have a guardian present on the field for  each practice and game.  Should you have to leave the field for any reason, you may designate another parent with their permission as guardian and you must inform the Team Manager who will be responsible for your child before leaving the field. If it is found a player is at the field with no designated guardian, they will be asked to sit out until a parent/guardian arrives.
  • Parents/players/coaches/volunteers and fans should always act with Sportsmanship and Integrity.  Cheer for your team, save the Boos for Halloween.  Be respectful with other teams/coaches/referees/parents and players.  At all times on the field you represent the Nepean Eagles Football club.
 Please Remember:
  1. These are kids
  2. This is a game.
  3. Coaches are Volunteers.
  4. Referees are human
  5. This is not the Grey Cup.

Players are expected to be at the field and dressed in full equipment ready for warm up 1 hour before the game start time.

2 Parent Volunteers are required at every game as Convenor, it is preferable to have the same parents in this role at each game.  Please advise Karen if you would like to volunteer for this role.
